FLAWS AND DENTS (Fiction)

FLAWS AND DENTS

"Will you marry me? " he asked,  on a bent knee, a wide grin spread across his mouth.

Fiona stopped sipping her margarita, her hand stuck on her straw as I gaze at him in shock.

He gazed back at her , waiting earnestly for her response.

She bent her head as tears welled up in her eyes. One, two they dropped and before she knew it,  the floodgates opened. Her shoulders shook as the tears came cascading down her face.

He quickly stood from where he knelt and rushed to her side.

"Honey,  why the tears?  Talk to me,  why are you crying?  You know you can talk to me about anything?  What did I do wrong? " He begged as he held her face and tried to wipe her face with his handkerchief.

"Baby.... " She started as another bout of tears took over her.

"Honey,  these tears are killing me.  I can't stand seeing you like this anymore. Please talk to me,  I beg of you. "

She tried to steady her whirling emotions as she looked him in the eyes.

"Baby,  I don't think I am the girl for you.  I am not perfect. I am not beautiful. I have got scars all over.  I don't fit your kind of lady. I am a bad cook,  you can testify to that.  I am a terrible housekeeper. I am not good at Washing and all these house chores stuff. I can't be the perfect wife for you....." she went on and on till he cut her short with a raise of his hand.

He looked at her wet face and willed some kind of magic would help her see herself the way he saw her.

"And you think I care for all these excuses of yours?  You think I don't know you cook salt spiced with food? Or that I notice that you are not the Most beautiful girl in the world? "

She bent her head in shame as he started his rant,  with his brows knitted in what she knows as anger.

"I know you are not perfect.  I know all about your flaws and all but have you thought of the good things about you?  Have you thought that maybe I don't care for the flaws but how amazing you're as a human?"

He continued looking deep into her eyes,  his eyes misty with tears threatening to drop.

"I know all you're not but I am deciding to love you and marry for all you're baby.  I am willing to take this walk with you.  I am willing to live the rest of my life teasing you about your salty and undone meals.  I don't care about the housechores, I don't want a maid but a wife.  A partner.  A friend. It's not like you're not trying to learn these things.  That's why I won't give up on you.  I will stand by you till you become the woman YOU want to be. I love you so much Fiona and I am asking for the last time,  WILL YOU MARRY ME,  MISS FLAWS AND DENTS? "

She rushed from her seat and ran to where he stood,  taking his lips with hers and she gifted his lips with warm kisses.  He held on to her and  kissed her fiercely.

Fiona knew this is it.
This is her man.
This is home.
Her heart was at peace.

Jason held her like his life depended on it.
Of course it does.
His life is incomplete with her in it.

They held on to each other for a minute before Jason lifted his head and looked into her teary eyes.

"What's it gonna be missus?  Are you for me or against me?  Would you do me the honor of being my wife?"

"Most definitely Yes.  I'd love to spend forever with you Jason. "

Sista Movie Review

The opening scene did me in. I read somewhere that the first few 5 minutes of a movie determines if it is worth it.  Trust me, Sista movie hooked me in less than 5 minutes. I loved the straight to the point opening. No show of the Third Mainland Bridge. No lazy show of Lagos traffic. Nothing. Also, the past/present sequence made crazy sense.  Seeing Kehinde Bankole in that role is refreshing, it's not what she is used to, but she did well. Chimezie was quite not in character, or maybe he didn't bond with Ade Herself. I don't know. He is better than what I saw him act here. As usual Aunty Ronke Oshodi Oke gave it her all. This Tope Owokoniran babe tried with her Hausa accent. I love it!!! I think this is the best of her I have seen so far. I'd say this is a movie Aunty Biodun Stephen put her everything to make. This is a beautiful work of art. I love every piece of it. The story line is dope. Directing is flawless. The fun part was that even though It was predictable f...

Ijakumo Movie Review

Whatever this movie was set to give, it didn't give.  Even the stripping is not giving. Why is the Sharon girl sex talking like she is doing spoken words???  I liked the babe in "Listening Ears", but I feel she is not 'mature' enough theatrically for this role. Wait, what I noticed was that Toyin and her crew didn't know there was a girl who looks like the Sharon girl in his church. A very crazy error that no director should make. If they had come in with this, maybe the finding out they were twin bla BLA BLA suspense would suspense well. But as the director or script writer were very myopic, the twin shii didn't hold water. If they had said or showed that they picked the Ugandan girl because she looked like the Nigerian girl in his church, e for make perfect sense. Seriously, I am miffed. The only thing that thrilled me was Kunle Remi and his lines. O mard gan. 🤣🤣🤣 "Emi mimo ni kin gbenu sohun". 🤣🤣🤣 "So, idi Uganda lo Fe baye mi j...

The Black Book Movie Review

Chaos is what you get when you try to film movies like Hollywood without doing your homework well.  That kidnapping scene is one of the most chaotic and unorganized crime scenes ever. Like WTH!! Moving on, we have RMD and Olumide bonding that didn't give the vibes they were gunning for. Then the scene where Sam Dede called Bimbo Akintola on the phone asking who he should kill. Please what's the job of the two police men that were present at the scene? What's their work? Are they aesthetics? I expected them to go close to her immediately they realized she was communicating with the kidnappers. No, they stood like they were visitors checking family album. Mchew. It was after the conversation has ended that the soldier guy came to stand in front of her - like a mannequin.  Another thing, choice of soundtrack was shitty. What's "omo mi Seun rere" doing in that beach scene. I am rolling my eyes. All those half half conversations that were flying up and down, na r...
