Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to either charge former Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Shema to court, or release him from custody. Fayose said further that the EFCC has no respect for the fundamental rights provided for in the 1999 constitution. The governor made the comments in a statement released by his media aide, Lere Olayinka. The statement reads: “EFCC should release him immediately or charge him to court if there is any evidence of corruption against him rather than acting as if it is law unto itself. The authorities of University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, have ordered the closure of the gates of the main campus at Akoka due to protest by students. The aggrieved students were said to be protesting against the rustication of some members of the students' union. The rusticated students were leaders of the students body that led a protest in April over poor electricity and water supply in the community, and the difficulty faced by a large number of students living off campus to attend classes as a result of the fuel crisis. Members of the suspended University of Lagos Students Union (ULSU) executive had earlier in the month protested what they described as an “unjust rustication” of the union members. The aggrieved students gathered at the school’s Senate building to demand thorough investigation of the suspensions of the students’ leaders, ranging from two to four semesters, for their role in a protest that led to the closure of the university in April. An EFCC witness, Mr Ishaq Salihu on Thursday told an FCT High Court how millions of Naira approved for stationeries by former Taraba governor, Jolly Nyame, misappropriated Salihu, an operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), who investigated the alleged N1.64 billion fraud, said that N470 was released for stationeries in 2005. He said that N250 million was first approved by Nyame on December 30, 2004 upon request made by the Commissioner for Finance, Abubakar Tutare , on December 28, 2004. The witness said the purchase of these bulk stationeries and office equipment for Taraba ministries and parastatals was supposed to be by “direct labour’’as stipulated by Tutare. He said the `direct labour’ consisted of a committee of civil servants and auditors who were to make the purchases directly from the market to cut cost and not through contract. Suspected member of a kidnapping gang was nabbed yesterday in Aliade, Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State by men of the Gwer East Community Joint Task Force ( CJTF ) According to eyewitnesses account who spoke to IPN, the suspect identified as one Aondolumum Nyimkaan , went into Mt . St . Michael ’s Nursery and Primary School , Aliade , and snatched the child , Msendo Liamuza . Popular Rhythm FM disc jockey,  Michael Adefoyin a.k.a. DJ Midas is dead. He was said to have passed on after a brief illness on Tuesday,  September 27,2016 at the age of 45. Shortly before his death, DJ Midas worked with Silverbird’s Rhythm FM, a radio station he joined in 1998 as a pioneer and regular DJ host. He is regarded as one of Nigeria’s pioneer disc jockeys, who helped in developing the profession and raising its profile in an era when the craft was poorly recognised within the country. President Muhammadu Buhari declared on Friday that Nigeria has had enough of incessant clashes between herdsmen and farmers across the country. He said government had, accordingly, mandated security agencies to put an end to the problem. “On the matter of herdsmen/farmers clashes, I wish to state that this administration will not tolerate or condone acts of banditry and criminality, under any guise. As such, our security agencies have been mandated to deal with such acts decisively,” Buhari said at the graduation of members of Course 24 of the National Defence College (NDC), Abuja. Delta State Police Command, Asaba, on Thursday arrested the General Overseer of a church (name withheld) for allegedly raping a seven-year-old daughter of his member. Pubic Relations Officer of the command, Mrs. Celestina Kalu, disclosed that the suspect’s church was along Ibusa Road, Koka, Asaba. According to the P. R. O. , the cleric lured the girl into the church office to ‘pray’ for her but committed the act after which the victim told her parents what happened. The couple immediately rushed their daughter to the Federal Medical Centre in Asaba, where it was discovered that the girl had been raped. Bruises were also discovered in her private parts. Kalu added that on investigation, the suspect confessed to the crime and would soon be charged to court. Daily Post

Ijaw National leader, Edwin Clark, has said former president Olusegun Obasanjo is the most corrupt ex-president in Nigeria's history.
