DETECTIVE TEMIDAYO.

Temidayo took one look at the newborn, and the chants of "Ekú ewu omo" going on around her faded into nothingness.

A quick glance at the fair skinned, curly headed, tiny human wrapped in a soft cotton wrapper, was enough to tell that there was actually a problem.

An intent look reiterated the fact that was staring at Temidayo right in her face.

"Akú ìsomolórúko ooo. Olórun a wo, Olórun á dasí", a wobbly voiced Temidayo greeted Tolani her cousin's wife, a plastic smile plastered on her face as she quickly dashed out of the bedroom.

She needed to find her cousins Ifetola and Feeks fast before it was too late. There were questions in her mind that she needed answers to immediately.

"Ifetola, where have you been? I have been looking all over for you?'', an agitated Temidayo ranted, dragging her cousin away from the queue of people waiting to be served bowls of hot piping morsels of Amala and ewedu soup.

Serving Amala and ewedu and ogunfe is a symbol of opulence and wealth in any Yoruba party. If you serve jollof rice, people would just assume that you're broke. If you serve fried rice, they would assume you're trying to be posh when you're not. If you serve white rice and stew, just don't bother inviting anyone other then your immediate family and close friends.

But when you serve ìbílè foods like Iyán and Àmàlà, voila!!! you're speaking the language that the people understood.

So saying that Dolapo and his wife understood what the people want is an understatement, they have the money to cater to the food needs too, hence why they had different food stands dispensing different Yoruba traditional meals at their first child's dedication party.

"Walahi, if you make me miss this amala, I won't forgive you..", Ifetola hissed, pouting angrily as her cousin pulled her away from the Amala queue.

"If you make me miss this... Yen yen yen. Shut up jor..all you know is food." Temidayo stopped pulling Ife as soon as they were out of earshot.

"What is this all about, Temidayo? You better have a good reason for making me miss the delicious Amala that I have been craving since forever!!!" Ife protested, wondering what was eating her cousin up now.

She knew Temidayo always had something to say. It was in her nature to want to know everything about everything and everyone. If something wasn't right, trust Temidayo to feel it in her guts first and also get to the root of it.

Having Temidayo get all riled up at their older cousin's child's dedication was not a good thing and for the love of God, Ife just wished that whatever it was, she got it off her chest very soon. Ife didn't want anyone raining on her parade this night. She planned to have mad fun all night!

"Shii!!! Will you stop screaming?! Okay! I promise to order you Amala from your favorite Amala spot tomorrow. Is that a deal?? Will that make you shut up and listen to me?" Temidayo asked, eyeing her foodie cousin up and down in mock anger.

"And if it is not my two favorite cousins in the whole wide world!....

Sista Movie Review

The opening scene did me in. I read somewhere that the first few 5 minutes of a movie determines if it is worth it.  Trust me, Sista movie hooked me in less than 5 minutes. I loved the straight to the point opening. No show of the Third Mainland Bridge. No lazy show of Lagos traffic. Nothing. Also, the past/present sequence made crazy sense.  Seeing Kehinde Bankole in that role is refreshing, it's not what she is used to, but she did well. Chimezie was quite not in character, or maybe he didn't bond with Ade Herself. I don't know. He is better than what I saw him act here. As usual Aunty Ronke Oshodi Oke gave it her all. This Tope Owokoniran babe tried with her Hausa accent. I love it!!! I think this is the best of her I have seen so far. I'd say this is a movie Aunty Biodun Stephen put her everything to make. This is a beautiful work of art. I love every piece of it. The story line is dope. Directing is flawless. The fun part was that even though It was predictable f...

Ijakumo Movie Review

Whatever this movie was set to give, it didn't give.  Even the stripping is not giving. Why is the Sharon girl sex talking like she is doing spoken words???  I liked the babe in "Listening Ears", but I feel she is not 'mature' enough theatrically for this role. Wait, what I noticed was that Toyin and her crew didn't know there was a girl who looks like the Sharon girl in his church. A very crazy error that no director should make. If they had come in with this, maybe the finding out they were twin bla BLA BLA suspense would suspense well. But as the director or script writer were very myopic, the twin shii didn't hold water. If they had said or showed that they picked the Ugandan girl because she looked like the Nigerian girl in his church, e for make perfect sense. Seriously, I am miffed. The only thing that thrilled me was Kunle Remi and his lines. O mard gan. 🤣🤣🤣 "Emi mimo ni kin gbenu sohun". 🤣🤣🤣 "So, idi Uganda lo Fe baye mi j...

The Black Book Movie Review

Chaos is what you get when you try to film movies like Hollywood without doing your homework well.  That kidnapping scene is one of the most chaotic and unorganized crime scenes ever. Like WTH!! Moving on, we have RMD and Olumide bonding that didn't give the vibes they were gunning for. Then the scene where Sam Dede called Bimbo Akintola on the phone asking who he should kill. Please what's the job of the two police men that were present at the scene? What's their work? Are they aesthetics? I expected them to go close to her immediately they realized she was communicating with the kidnappers. No, they stood like they were visitors checking family album. Mchew. It was after the conversation has ended that the soldier guy came to stand in front of her - like a mannequin.  Another thing, choice of soundtrack was shitty. What's "omo mi Seun rere" doing in that beach scene. I am rolling my eyes. All those half half conversations that were flying up and down, na r...
