UI To Hold ‘PTA’ Meeting Over School Closure-

University of Ibadan (UI) will be holding a parent and stakeholders forum to resolve the crisis, which led to the closure of the university, a few weeks ago.

The meeting titled “University of Ibadan parents/stakeholders’ forum” is scheduled to hold at Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan, on Tuesday, 7 June, 2016, at 11am.

In a statement signed by Olujimi Olukoya, registrar of the University, parents are urged to attend the meeting without their wards, as students are not yet allowed on campus.

“Following the recent development that led to students being advised to vacate the campus, the Management, Senate and Council of the University of Ibadan, have at various levels been deliberating on ways to address this problem with a view to finding lasting solution and ensuring resumption as soon as possible,” the statement read.

“Parents and other stakeholders in the UI project are cordially invited to this forum… we specially covet your presence and valuable input at this important meeting.

“Kindly note that students are yet to be recalled and as such should still stay away from the campus. Thank you for your support at all times.”

Students have taken to social media to describe the meeting as a Parents, Teachers Association (PTA) meeting, reminiscent of their primary and secondary school days.

Ayantola Alanyande, the Students’ Union public relations officer (PRO), in another statement, urged students to remain calm and resolute in their demands for justice and basic amenities.

“While we await the decision of the University on Mote’s case, electricity and water supply, and resumption date, we have our fingers crossed and keep undying strategies to ensure that our victory is certain,” the statement read in part
“Once again, disregard any post launching attacks on the Union leadership and throwing such divisive darts in the minds of students.

“Like the Vice Chancellor of the University himself said yesterday ‘tough time never lasts, but tough people do’, we remain committed and undiscouraged in this struggle. This is a moment of social change and it comes with both loyalty and betrayal.

Sista Movie Review

The opening scene did me in. I read somewhere that the first few 5 minutes of a movie determines if it is worth it.  Trust me, Sista movie hooked me in less than 5 minutes. I loved the straight to the point opening. No show of the Third Mainland Bridge. No lazy show of Lagos traffic. Nothing. Also, the past/present sequence made crazy sense.  Seeing Kehinde Bankole in that role is refreshing, it's not what she is used to, but she did well. Chimezie was quite not in character, or maybe he didn't bond with Ade Herself. I don't know. He is better than what I saw him act here. As usual Aunty Ronke Oshodi Oke gave it her all. This Tope Owokoniran babe tried with her Hausa accent. I love it!!! I think this is the best of her I have seen so far. I'd say this is a movie Aunty Biodun Stephen put her everything to make. This is a beautiful work of art. I love every piece of it. The story line is dope. Directing is flawless. The fun part was that even though It was predictable f...

Ijakumo Movie Review

Whatever this movie was set to give, it didn't give.  Even the stripping is not giving. Why is the Sharon girl sex talking like she is doing spoken words???  I liked the babe in "Listening Ears", but I feel she is not 'mature' enough theatrically for this role. Wait, what I noticed was that Toyin and her crew didn't know there was a girl who looks like the Sharon girl in his church. A very crazy error that no director should make. If they had come in with this, maybe the finding out they were twin bla BLA BLA suspense would suspense well. But as the director or script writer were very myopic, the twin shii didn't hold water. If they had said or showed that they picked the Ugandan girl because she looked like the Nigerian girl in his church, e for make perfect sense. Seriously, I am miffed. The only thing that thrilled me was Kunle Remi and his lines. O mard gan. 🤣🤣🤣 "Emi mimo ni kin gbenu sohun". 🤣🤣🤣 "So, idi Uganda lo Fe baye mi j...

FLAWS AND DENTS (Fiction)

FLAWS AND DENTS "Will you marry me? " he asked,  on a bent knee, a wide grin spread across his mouth. Fiona stopped sipping her margarita, her hand stuck on her straw as I gaze at him in shock. He gazed back at her , waiting earnestly for her response. She bent her head as tears welled up in her eyes. One, two they dropped and before she knew it,  the floodgates opened. Her shoulders shook as the tears came cascading down her face. He quickly stood from where he knelt and rushed to her side. "Honey,  why the tears?  Talk to me,  why are you crying?  You know you can talk to me about anything?  What did I do wrong? " He begged as he held her face and tried to wipe her face with his handkerchief. "Baby.... " She started as another bout of tears took over her. "Honey,  these tears are killing me.  I can't stand seeing you like this anymore. Please talk to me,  I beg of you. " She tried to steady her whirling emotions as ...
