N12 million in cash was stolen from
Senate President , Bukola Saraki’s home in Kwara State, his media aide has said.
Saraki made the disclosure to counter reports that N300 million was stolen from his Ilorin home during a robbery which took place about two weeks ago.
“Unknown persons broke into the safe in the Administrative Office and stole the N12m.
The incident had since been reported to the police and the Kwara State Police Command is investigating the matter with a view to nailing the culprits,” Saraki’s aide, Yusuph Olaniyonu, said via a statement.
“There is therefore no truth inblockquote> the claim by SaharaReporters that the money ran into hundreds of millions; that it was in foreign currency or that the incident happened in Dr. Saraki’s room. The amount was simply in naira and the money has nothing to do with the Kwara State Government,” he added.
Olaniyonu also justified Saraki’s stashing of such a large sum of money in an alternative home by saying that the Senate President is not a poor man.
