The Lagos State Police Command said it had commenced investigation into the death of a 44-year-old man, Olisa Nwakobi, suspected to have committed suicide by shooting himself on the head.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Dolapo Badmos , told the News Agency of
Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Sunday that Nwakobi was found dead on Thursday at about 9.45 a.m. near Chevron Oil Company, Lekki area of Lagos State.
“One Olisa Nwakobi, 44, of No. 11, Aladdin Close, Chevron Drive, Lekki, allegedly shot himself on the head with a pistol.
``The incident happened in front of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Northern Fore-shore Estate, Lekki in Lagos.
``A team of police men attached to Ilasan Police Division visited, examined and photographed the scene.
``The exhibit, a silver American Pistol with five rounds of expended ammunition, was recovered and taken to the station,’’ she said.
The corpse had been removed and deposited at the Lagos Island Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
