"NASS Has Been Padding Budget Since 1999, Dogara Sacked Me For Trying To Stop Him " - Jibrin

Former House of Representatives Appropriations Committee chairman, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has declared that “institutional corruption” exists at the National Assembly.

He accused Speaker Yakubu Dogara, Deputy Speaker Yusuff Lasun, Chief Whip Alhassan Ado Doguwa and Minority Leader Leo Ogor of being behind the padding of the 2016 budget.

According to him, the quartet helped 10 commitee chairmen
to insert 2,000 fictitious projects worth N248 billion into the budget.

Jubrin who is also alleged to have allocated 20 projects worth N4.3billion to his constituency, said the allegations were “mere afterthoughts manufactured simply because the House relieved him of his position”.

“There is institutional corruption at the National Assembly, which we have to address,” Jibrin told Channels Television Sunday night.

“The case of the National Assembly today is that there is a trigger and we want to take advantage of the trigger to be able to force reform in the National Assembly.

“Not only reform in the budget of the National Assembly because people are looking at it from a narrow perspective. This issue is going to lead to a revolution in the National Assembly; a lot of corruption is at National Assembly. I want to use the word trigger.

“I have been part of the institution for five years, I have not been part of any corruption, I have never shared money with members of the National Assembly; we have come to a point that we state our position. The money they alleged that I benefitted from is mere blackmail.

“Of course, I am the chairman of Appropriation, what I did is not only to promote my constituency but Nigeria as a whole.

”As I explained in the last few days, there were lots of insertions in the 2016 budget from the angle of the National Assembly.

“I discussed with the Speaker that the insertions were too many. Though we (the legislature) have the power to insert but it was senseless in view of the enormity of the insertions. I fought internally to ensure that the situation was checked. The insertions were passed.

“We did a statistics after collecting reports from the various committees. I discovered that in between the committees in the House, about 2000 projects were posted by the committees totaling about N224 billion and I was a bit worried about it.

“For five years, I have been working on budgets and of course I have been part of the budgeting process. Since 1999 to date it has been outrageous.

“A lot of people have been asking me why haven’t I opened up? It is a difficult system and much more complex than what people think. But, I raised the issue internally of insertions and I fought the battle of my life.”

“What I think is wrong is when the insertion goes out of proportion.

“Every year, there have always been insertions, which is made up constituency projects. They do often cause friction and tension between both arms of government.

“The only difference is that in 2016, it went completely off the board. I stand by my word that there were lots of insertions”, he added.

"Any Office Holder Coming Into Office To Loot Money is Mad" - VP Osinbajo

Vice President President Yemi Osinbajo says that it is madness for people in positions like President Buhari and himself to come into office and look for money to loot. A statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande , quotes Osinbajo as saying this while receiving a delegation of Christian Ministers Welfare Initiative also known as the Pastors ’ Forum , Taraba State , at the Presidential Villa , Abuja yesterday. “ This morning, I had a meeting with the President and he repeated to me twice, he said ‘ at my age , there is only one thing I am looking for , I want to see a great Nigeria . ’ He has no other objective and I feel very inspired by that . It is madness for anybody in our position to be looking for money. According to him , God put people in a position of authority for them to be able to do something for their people. I think if any Nigerian gets the chance to be President of the country , there is nothing he / she is looking for anymor...

THE WILDFLOWER MOVIE REVIEW.

Think of The Wait and how it made you feel. How it brought things you have ever seen, heard of or experienced right to you, that is exactly how you would feel with this movie.  This is a movie that is a must watch if you are a mother, an elder sister, if you are connected to a female one way or the other, this movie is for you. Trust Aunty Biodun Stephen to always give you real life and realistic themes and plots. Hence the plot of this movie is so close to home that I could remember some scenarios. But the movie was dragged at so many points. If you are looking for a movie that would kick you in the punch at once, this is not that movie. This is the movie that you have take your time to go through the prolonged actions and scenes, which was caused by some actors, who unfortunately were key players. Anyway, overall, I'd give it an 8/10. Plot is cool. Directing is cool. Delivery wasn't perfect for a lot to cast, even the top ones. Everyone was just at their relaxed mood, whic...

Sista Movie Review

The opening scene did me in. I read somewhere that the first few 5 minutes of a movie determines if it is worth it.  Trust me, Sista movie hooked me in less than 5 minutes. I loved the straight to the point opening. No show of the Third Mainland Bridge. No lazy show of Lagos traffic. Nothing. Also, the past/present sequence made crazy sense.  Seeing Kehinde Bankole in that role is refreshing, it's not what she is used to, but she did well. Chimezie was quite not in character, or maybe he didn't bond with Ade Herself. I don't know. He is better than what I saw him act here. As usual Aunty Ronke Oshodi Oke gave it her all. This Tope Owokoniran babe tried with her Hausa accent. I love it!!! I think this is the best of her I have seen so far. I'd say this is a movie Aunty Biodun Stephen put her everything to make. This is a beautiful work of art. I love every piece of it. The story line is dope. Directing is flawless. The fun part was that even though It was predictable f...
