Rain - Chat

You heard the first drop of rain land on the roof of your apartment like the giant clock heralding the incoming of a new hour..

 Loud and specific.

It was going to rain. That was sure.

But what wasn't sure was the longevity of the rain. You didn't know if this rain was an indomie noodles man or a beans man.

You needed to be sure which one it was before you took your containers outside.

There was no drop of water in your house.

Your landlord and landlady had turned off the tank as always. The she devil and he goat themselves.

The rain continued to drizzle slowly, so you went back to chatting with Deji, the young banker that caught your fancy at Access bank.

You had gone there to pay in Ajo money for your aunt when you sighted him at a corner - slim, tall, dark skinned and handsome, just like you love them.

You quickly checked your image in the little mirror that you kept in your purse. Your make up was on fleek, as always. You smiled!

You were about to put away the mirror when you notice a red dot of lipstick on your front teeth.

"Shit", you will swear before rushing to a side to wipe it with your handkerchief.

Noting that everything was in place, you processed to join the queue that he was attending to.

Fast forward to when it got to your turn, he was smitten too as he confessed that he saw you trying to wipe your teeth, and that had made him laugh, something he hadn't done all day.

You exchanged digits, promising to talk to each other tonight. He fulfilled his promise by sending you a message as soon as he was done with work...

"Hey, teeth wiper..." , his opening message read.

You laughed so hard. It broke the ice and set the course for a smooth conversation. In less than 45 minutes, he had told you almost everything about him. You did the same too.

"are you in a relationship?" He asked you as soon as you were done with the introductions.

"No, you?", As soon as you sent that message you heard the rain kick in with so much fervor, hitting the roof with a lot of vengeance.

This is the beans type of rain...

You heard your next door neighbor open her door and put her containers in the rain.

You dropped your phone on the bed and rushed into your bathroom to get your containers too.

Wearing only your pant, you rushed out with her orange sized breasts, like your crazy bestie would call them, swinging "ear" and "dear".

Closing your door firmly behind you because the fear of mosquitoes is the begining of wisdom, you joined your neighbor outside, with your containers placed under the rain near her containers.

"Good evening, Neighbor, I called out to you when I came but there was no response.", Your neighbor started the conversation.

"I am so sorry, I was quite engrossed in a conversation that I was having with someone... Hold on, let me get my wrapper. I can feel the bites of mosquitoes already...", You rushed back inside to grab your wrapper off the bed.

Your gaze caught a new unread message from Deji. It made you smile even without you knowing the content of the message.

You rushed back outside, wrapping your wrapper around yourself to ward off the building cold and gathering mosquitoes.

"As I was saying, don't be angry. I didn't hear you call ooo." You will apologize profusely.

"No, it's fine. I knew you probably didn't hear.''

You both will proceed to talk about the unending water issue that you all are facing in the house.

How the she devil and he goat were the only ones who had access to the tank.

You will both go ahead to curse them and their generations yet unborn before relapsing in silence for a while as you listen to drops of rainwater enter your containers.

"So, have you settled with Fisayo yet?", You will ask, partly out of a need to fill the growing silence, partly because you wanted to know.

Fisayo and her are in a toxic relationship that didn't look like it wasn't going to end. Neither did it look like it was going to favor her too.

You had told her to stay away from home, but a woman in love is hard to convince that she is playing with fire.

But you still go on your knees everyday, asking God to destroy their love.

Your prayers seem to work as they both had a heated argument three days ago. And you prayed that that would be the end of it.

"He is still apologizing but I have found someone else...", She smiled.

You'd go ahead to "awww" and ask how they met. She would tell you she met him at Access bank where he worked at the counter. How he is cute, tall, thin and slim.

Your heart would pound as her description sounded like she was describing someone you knew - someone who you just met.

You will go on to ask of his name.

"Deji...", She would reply you, giggling like a teenager who just discovered her first Crush.

Your heart would plummet and the world would start spinning around you.

"Hold on, let me show you his picture...", It was her turn to rush inside and leave you in the cold with the bloodsucking mosquitoes.

When she came back and showed you his picture... Your fear was confirmed. Her Deji was your Deji.

"Oh fuck, I forgot that I left my gas on ooo. I am going back inside.", You hurriedly ran into your apartment, tears gathering in your eyes.

You thought he was different. You thought he was going to be better than the ones before him. But here he was wooing you and wooing your neighbor too!

You rushed to your phone to check the message he sent, hoping he would at least tell you the truth.

That there was another girl. You would understand, truly you would.

"No, I am not in a relationship. I haven't seen anyone who caught my fancy in a while before today. You are special.", His message read.

Bloody idiot!

Fool!

Liar!

Goat!

You clicked on the "block" button immediately and blocked the philandering bastard.

Tossing your phone away, you sat staring into space, through your window as you watched the rain continue to hit itself against the roof in anger.

Prologue....

But what you won't know is that Deji is an half of an identical set of twins whose twin brother also worked as a teller in Access bank but in the branch at Ring Road and coincidentally his name was also Deji - Oyedeji.

The End.

Sista Movie Review

The opening scene did me in. I read somewhere that the first few 5 minutes of a movie determines if it is worth it.  Trust me, Sista movie hooked me in less than 5 minutes. I loved the straight to the point opening. No show of the Third Mainland Bridge. No lazy show of Lagos traffic. Nothing. Also, the past/present sequence made crazy sense.  Seeing Kehinde Bankole in that role is refreshing, it's not what she is used to, but she did well. Chimezie was quite not in character, or maybe he didn't bond with Ade Herself. I don't know. He is better than what I saw him act here. As usual Aunty Ronke Oshodi Oke gave it her all. This Tope Owokoniran babe tried with her Hausa accent. I love it!!! I think this is the best of her I have seen so far. I'd say this is a movie Aunty Biodun Stephen put her everything to make. This is a beautiful work of art. I love every piece of it. The story line is dope. Directing is flawless. The fun part was that even though It was predictable f...

Ijakumo Movie Review

Whatever this movie was set to give, it didn't give.  Even the stripping is not giving. Why is the Sharon girl sex talking like she is doing spoken words???  I liked the babe in "Listening Ears", but I feel she is not 'mature' enough theatrically for this role. Wait, what I noticed was that Toyin and her crew didn't know there was a girl who looks like the Sharon girl in his church. A very crazy error that no director should make. If they had come in with this, maybe the finding out they were twin bla BLA BLA suspense would suspense well. But as the director or script writer were very myopic, the twin shii didn't hold water. If they had said or showed that they picked the Ugandan girl because she looked like the Nigerian girl in his church, e for make perfect sense. Seriously, I am miffed. The only thing that thrilled me was Kunle Remi and his lines. O mard gan. 🤣🤣🤣 "Emi mimo ni kin gbenu sohun". 🤣🤣🤣 "So, idi Uganda lo Fe baye mi j...

The Black Book Movie Review

Chaos is what you get when you try to film movies like Hollywood without doing your homework well.  That kidnapping scene is one of the most chaotic and unorganized crime scenes ever. Like WTH!! Moving on, we have RMD and Olumide bonding that didn't give the vibes they were gunning for. Then the scene where Sam Dede called Bimbo Akintola on the phone asking who he should kill. Please what's the job of the two police men that were present at the scene? What's their work? Are they aesthetics? I expected them to go close to her immediately they realized she was communicating with the kidnappers. No, they stood like they were visitors checking family album. Mchew. It was after the conversation has ended that the soldier guy came to stand in front of her - like a mannequin.  Another thing, choice of soundtrack was shitty. What's "omo mi Seun rere" doing in that beach scene. I am rolling my eyes. All those half half conversations that were flying up and down, na r...
