JUNGLE JUSTICE : THE PEOPLE'S OWN LEGAL SYSTEM

JUNGLE JUSTICE : THE PEOPLE'S OWN LEGAL                                            SYSTEM

I believe we all know or have an idea of what Jungle Justice means, but for the benefit of the doubt and to enlighten those who don't know,  I will define  what it means before I say what I want to say.

Jungle Justice is defined as the CAPITAL PUNISHMENT meted out by individuals without any legal authority on a suspected individual.

Now that we know what jungle justice means,  I will like to go straight to my point without further Ado.  I have noticed that this form of justice is frequent particularly in this country.  In Nigeria,  we believe we can take the lives of people suspected of one crime or the other without due judicial or legal process.

There are times when these suspects are caught in the act and there are times when people just listen to what one or two persons  say and before you say JACK ROBINSON,  the suspect is lifeless in his or her own pool of blood.

While I was putting these thoughts down,  a particular incidence came to my remembrance,  it was the case of the four University of Port Harcourt students that were killed in Aluu Community in Port Harcourt,  Rivers State in 2012. These guys,  Ugonna Obuzor,  Toku Lloyd,  Chiadika  Biringa and Tekena  Elkanah  were falsely  accused of theft and we're stripped naked, beaten, tortured and then burnt to death alive.

This incident gives me goosebumps and my eyes get misty each time I remember,  even know i have tears running down my eyes.

My question now Is :Why do people  take laws into their own hands?  Is it that people  have stopped believing in the judicial system of this country or why exactly don't they wait for the law to take its own course befriend they administer theirs.

Don't get me wrong,  I am not saying stealing,  kidnapping and all the other crimes people commit is good,  but why take laws into your hands when we have agencies set to do just that..

Is it that these agencies have failed in their duties in time past?  Is it that we feel the Police,  JTF,  Military personnels and the rest security agencies can't give justice the way we want?  When and how did this barbaric act start?  Nigerians,  how did we get here, that we don't value human lives anymore?

I need answers.....

Sista Movie Review

The opening scene did me in. I read somewhere that the first few 5 minutes of a movie determines if it is worth it.  Trust me, Sista movie hooked me in less than 5 minutes. I loved the straight to the point opening. No show of the Third Mainland Bridge. No lazy show of Lagos traffic. Nothing. Also, the past/present sequence made crazy sense.  Seeing Kehinde Bankole in that role is refreshing, it's not what she is used to, but she did well. Chimezie was quite not in character, or maybe he didn't bond with Ade Herself. I don't know. He is better than what I saw him act here. As usual Aunty Ronke Oshodi Oke gave it her all. This Tope Owokoniran babe tried with her Hausa accent. I love it!!! I think this is the best of her I have seen so far. I'd say this is a movie Aunty Biodun Stephen put her everything to make. This is a beautiful work of art. I love every piece of it. The story line is dope. Directing is flawless. The fun part was that even though It was predictable f...

Ijakumo Movie Review

Whatever this movie was set to give, it didn't give.  Even the stripping is not giving. Why is the Sharon girl sex talking like she is doing spoken words???  I liked the babe in "Listening Ears", but I feel she is not 'mature' enough theatrically for this role. Wait, what I noticed was that Toyin and her crew didn't know there was a girl who looks like the Sharon girl in his church. A very crazy error that no director should make. If they had come in with this, maybe the finding out they were twin bla BLA BLA suspense would suspense well. But as the director or script writer were very myopic, the twin shii didn't hold water. If they had said or showed that they picked the Ugandan girl because she looked like the Nigerian girl in his church, e for make perfect sense. Seriously, I am miffed. The only thing that thrilled me was Kunle Remi and his lines. O mard gan. 🤣🤣🤣 "Emi mimo ni kin gbenu sohun". 🤣🤣🤣 "So, idi Uganda lo Fe baye mi j...

The Black Book Movie Review

Chaos is what you get when you try to film movies like Hollywood without doing your homework well.  That kidnapping scene is one of the most chaotic and unorganized crime scenes ever. Like WTH!! Moving on, we have RMD and Olumide bonding that didn't give the vibes they were gunning for. Then the scene where Sam Dede called Bimbo Akintola on the phone asking who he should kill. Please what's the job of the two police men that were present at the scene? What's their work? Are they aesthetics? I expected them to go close to her immediately they realized she was communicating with the kidnappers. No, they stood like they were visitors checking family album. Mchew. It was after the conversation has ended that the soldier guy came to stand in front of her - like a mannequin.  Another thing, choice of soundtrack was shitty. What's "omo mi Seun rere" doing in that beach scene. I am rolling my eyes. All those half half conversations that were flying up and down, na r...
