RRS deploys helicopter to track the movement of the militants in the inner streets of Ewedogbon, Igando.
The Igando area was attacked by suspected Niger Delta militants who involved police officers in a gun battle.
The gunmen plundered many shops, causing havoc and sent residents running for their safety. Meanwhile, normalcy was returned to the area later on in the day.
A policeman revealed that the militants were Ijaw youths.
“The attackers are Ijaw youths. They are young, slim and can easily swim away in water. They shot at us and three policemen were injured. They saw us and laid an ambush. When we got to a section of the river, they began to shoot. We replied the bullets. But three policemen were hit and injured.” he said.
Badmos added that the policemen who were shot in the encounter are receiving treatment and that no lives were lost.
