‘We are pleased with President Buhari's policies,’ John Kerry

The United States Secretary of State, Mr. John Kerry announced at the US-Nigeria Bi-national Commission's meeting in Washington, that Obama’s administration is pleased by President Buhari’s efforts to diversify the economy.

He said

“The United States, let me be clear, is very encouraged by President Buhari’s commitment to an economy that is more diversified, less dependent on a single commodity for export earnings, and that means we need to develop sustainability.

“Sustainable growth depends on a climate that is welcoming to investment and respectful of the environment and of workers’ rights. And we have learned in these last 25, 30 years that it is never a competition between the environment and development.

“That is a false choice – completely false, and particularly in the context of today’s challenge of climate change. You can develop in ways that protect the environment and also are competitive and provide jobs for people.”

Kerry also said solving the problem of Nigeria is not an overnight issue.

The US Secretary of State said “You know there are challenges. That’s what your election was about. And so we are all aware that the world right now is facing many different challenges in terms of governance in various parts of the world and for various reasons: absence of capital, absence of structure, having to build capacity.

“These things take time. Nobody is pretending that it’s an overnight operation. It wasn’t for us. And some people sometimes are very revisionist in America about our own history, but we’ve gone through some very difficult periods and very difficult issues.”

President Buhari is currently in Washington DC for the 4th Nuclear Security Summit.

Sista Movie Review

The opening scene did me in. I read somewhere that the first few 5 minutes of a movie determines if it is worth it.  Trust me, Sista movie hooked me in less than 5 minutes. I loved the straight to the point opening. No show of the Third Mainland Bridge. No lazy show of Lagos traffic. Nothing. Also, the past/present sequence made crazy sense.  Seeing Kehinde Bankole in that role is refreshing, it's not what she is used to, but she did well. Chimezie was quite not in character, or maybe he didn't bond with Ade Herself. I don't know. He is better than what I saw him act here. As usual Aunty Ronke Oshodi Oke gave it her all. This Tope Owokoniran babe tried with her Hausa accent. I love it!!! I think this is the best of her I have seen so far. I'd say this is a movie Aunty Biodun Stephen put her everything to make. This is a beautiful work of art. I love every piece of it. The story line is dope. Directing is flawless. The fun part was that even though It was predictable f...

Ijakumo Movie Review

Whatever this movie was set to give, it didn't give.  Even the stripping is not giving. Why is the Sharon girl sex talking like she is doing spoken words???  I liked the babe in "Listening Ears", but I feel she is not 'mature' enough theatrically for this role. Wait, what I noticed was that Toyin and her crew didn't know there was a girl who looks like the Sharon girl in his church. A very crazy error that no director should make. If they had come in with this, maybe the finding out they were twin bla BLA BLA suspense would suspense well. But as the director or script writer were very myopic, the twin shii didn't hold water. If they had said or showed that they picked the Ugandan girl because she looked like the Nigerian girl in his church, e for make perfect sense. Seriously, I am miffed. The only thing that thrilled me was Kunle Remi and his lines. O mard gan. 🤣🤣🤣 "Emi mimo ni kin gbenu sohun". 🤣🤣🤣 "So, idi Uganda lo Fe baye mi j...

FLAWS AND DENTS (Fiction)

FLAWS AND DENTS "Will you marry me? " he asked,  on a bent knee, a wide grin spread across his mouth. Fiona stopped sipping her margarita, her hand stuck on her straw as I gaze at him in shock. He gazed back at her , waiting earnestly for her response. She bent her head as tears welled up in her eyes. One, two they dropped and before she knew it,  the floodgates opened. Her shoulders shook as the tears came cascading down her face. He quickly stood from where he knelt and rushed to her side. "Honey,  why the tears?  Talk to me,  why are you crying?  You know you can talk to me about anything?  What did I do wrong? " He begged as he held her face and tried to wipe her face with his handkerchief. "Baby.... " She started as another bout of tears took over her. "Honey,  these tears are killing me.  I can't stand seeing you like this anymore. Please talk to me,  I beg of you. " She tried to steady her whirling emotions as ...
