Obosi
Chidoka, 44, a former minister of aviation and also a former director general of the Federal Road Safety
Commission (FRSC), has helped in bettering the lives of University applicants as he has set up a computer based testing facility in his hometown, Obosi, Anambra State, for applicants in the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board exam.
Speaking on the project, Chidoka said: ”My hope of making a
Obosi a centre knowledge, ICT, Igbo music and
language promotion got a boost with the
successful conduct of the JAMB exam.
”However, we discovered very low basic
computer appreciation skill amongst the
students. Access to computers was a major
obstacle amongst the students.”
On ways to counter the challenges observed, Chidoka stated that: ”We
need community intervention, donate a
computer(s) to your local secondary school
and/or Organise basic computer appreciation
training clinics.”
The former minister’s initiative has been commended by many indigenes of
the town and other Nigerians.
